Tampa Bay Weather
The average temperatures in Tampa during October are 68 low and 84 high. The Tampa Bay area is one of the most popular meeting and vacation destinations in the country.
We are proud that our area welcomes approximately 18 million visitors each year, many of whom visit during the six-month hurricane season. As a tourism-based economy, Tampa Bay makes its living based on inviting and encouraging people to visit our community, and we could not - and would not - be successful if our product was considered dangerous or if we were placing anyone in harm's way.
In fact, for many, the months of June through November are the perfect time to visit. To many, 2004 will leave a close association between hurricanes and Florida. But it's important to note that a direct hit to a specific destination anywhere in the world by a major storm is a rare event.
The probability that a hurricane will impact the Tampa Bay area during the entire month of October is just 2% (using the most recent available data and counting hits when such weather was within 100 miles). If you are here for only a week, the chance would be one fourth of that - or only about a .5% chance. So the likelihood of being impacted is quite small for relatively short time frames.
When faced with a developing weather situation, the Tampa Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau will actively work with TB/IABC and local emergency management officials to assess the situation, outline possible courses of action, and most important, take the necessary steps to keep delegates safe. While there is no place on earth that is completely risk-free, the predictability of hurricanes and the experience and expertise of emergency management teams at the state, regional, and local levels means the risk can be mitigated or at least minimized. The safety of our conference attendees is our top priority.
